Voice Over Intensives
Voice Over Intensives include the essentials of acting training to ensure that actors ground themselves in their characters, creating truthful expression using instinct, imagination and emotional authenticity.
On a Two Day Intensive, the first day will focus on Commercials – monologue and dialogue spots - the second day will be all about Animation and Video Games. The Single Day Intensives will focus on Commercials only - monologue, dialogue, and character spots. Actors will be on their feet and working for the entire class. The magic of this technique is that much of the ‘voice’ of the character will spring organically from the work.
These are not classes on how to ‘mark’ your script or how to make funny voices. You will learn how to discover and realize the infrastructure of every character or announcer, enhancing your range and bringing fully realized characters to life… while having a blast!
I will arrange for a professional – agent, successful VO actor, VO director, producer, casting director - to visit toward the end of the class so you will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear his/her point of view on the industry and what it takes to succeed.

Skills you will begin to develop:
1. Acquire the proficiency required to analyze and interpret the script.
2. Learn to ground yourself quickly and easily (VO actors do not have the luxury of weeks of rehearsal) in the reality of the character, their circumstances, their intentions, their relationships, etc
3. Become aware of the latest “non-announcery, conversational style” and what it really means.
4. Learn to self-direct - essential in today’s marketplace where so much of our work and auditions are done from home studios.
5. Understand your “Voice Print” - where you fit in the industry as well as expanding your range in ways you never would have imagined.
6. Get a practical understanding of the voice over business and what it takes to succeed - from landing an agent, to setting up your studio, finding out where opportunities exist, to how to go about making your demo.
